Scripture Study with Miss C

We are *trying* to do scripture study with Cambria before bed. So far, we have had several successful nights in a row. We keep her in her high chair for a drink, teeth brushing, and then read aloud ten verses in the Book of Mormon. She looks at pamphlets and pass-along cards while Andrew and I alternate reading. Let's hope we can keep this up!

Tidbits About T-Man | October 2015
So much to remember about Titan! I feel like there is something new every day!
He reached out and held my shirt while nursing October 2. I love that milestone with my kids. It's when they are beginning to interact with me. Oh my heart!
October 8 he went up to size 3 diapers. Yeesh!

Titan at two months:
He weighs 15 lbs. 12.5 oz. He is 24 1/4" long. His noggin is 16.2 inches.

Titan's Emergency
October 3, 2015 is one of those dates that, as a parent, I won't forget. It's also a day that I am very grateful turned out as well as it did in the end.
That morning Andrew took our car (we are down to one car since my parents' Taurus bit the dust in May) to a 5K fundraiser organized by the Lynchburg College Free Clinic. Laurie was still in town and because it was really cold and rainy that morning, we decided to keep the kids at home. The weather was so rotten that one of the corporate sponsors called the night before to withdraw their support and asked for a refund.

Titan was really fussy that morning. I tried feeding him, changing his diaper, putting him down for a nap...he just became increasingly agitated. It seemed like there was nothing to do so I decided to put him down for a nap and see if he would just cry himself to sleep.
Titan RARELY cries. Like pretty much never. He is the happiest baby and even when he wakes up in the middle of the night to eat, he just hangs out until I realize he is awake and get up to feed him. So this was unusual. As soon as I put him in his pack & play for a nap, he started crying actual tears--his first time. And he was hysterical! I picked him up and noticed that his right eye seemed to be swelling shut. I took him out to the front room to ask Laurie what she thought and right then Titan's eyes rolled back in his head and he became limp in my arms.
The next seven minutes were a blur for me. Who am I kidding? This whole experience was a blur that I still can't seem to wrap my head around and make any sense of it.
Laurie called 911 while I roused Titan. He came to and started crying again but lost consciousness two more times. Since I believed he was having some sort of allergic reaction, I stuck my two fingers in his mouth to keep his tongue from the back of his throat. The 911 dispatcher began instructing me on performing CPR--in my panic, it hadn't even crossed my mind! Titan was fully conscious at this time and there was no need for rescue breaths.
I couldn't believe that it took more than seven minutes for the ambulance to arrive! We live essentially one mile down a quiet road from the fire department. It was agonizing! I kept begging them to hurry and finally just completely lost it. Poor Cambria got caught up in the chaos and I will never forget her face crumpled up in terror.
I was shaking so hard that I couldn't text clearly but I needed to connect with Andrew immediately.
The paramedics arrived and determined that Titan needed to be checked out at the emergency room. They loaded him up in the ambulance and Laurie stayed behind with Cambria.
Titan looked so tiny as he quietly lay on the gurney. One of the paramedics recorded Titan's vitals as another asked me questions. I racked my brain trying to come up with anything different in Titan's routine which could have caused an allergic reaction. For some reason, they didn't strap Titan down and so it was a slow twenty minute ride to the hospital. Titan actually fell asleep. I kept reassuring the paramedics that his calm demeanor was normal for him.
At the hospital, Titan was exhausted and just kept trying to catch a nap. Andrew got my frantic texts and voicemails and joined us. The physician checked him over thoroughly and determined that it was not an allergic reaction since his immune system is generally too immature for such hypersensitivity. He didn't really have any answers for us and just considered it an apneic episode.
After a few hours, we were released to go home. We settled Titan and Cambria down for naps and watched the second session of General Conference. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland's talk "Behold Thy Mother" made me pretty emotional.
It may seem silly that Andrew and I pray for our children's safety over and over again every night, but I know our prayers were answered. It brings me so much comfort to know that Heavenly Father is watching over our family and that He hears our prayers.
