Easter Weekend

As we grow as a family, it's fun for Andrew and I to create our holiday traditions.  Some we take from his childhood, some from mine, and some are all our own.

The Easter Bunny comes to see us on the Saturday of Easter Weekend.  Grammy always explained it best, "The Easter Bunny knows how important it is to us to think about Jesus on Sunday, so he always comes a day early for our family."

So excited for Easter treats!

Normally, Andrew makes a yummy Easter breakfast after we look at our baskets on Saturday and we have a nice Easter dinner on Sunday after Church.  But this year, we were having the Elders over for dinner Saturday night and so we swapped how we do our meals.

Our Easter dinner menu includes:
Holiday Ham (recipe found on allrecipes.com Easter 2011)
Chunky applesauce (makes me think of Granny Slash!)
Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes (recipe also found on allrecipes.com Easter 2011)
Seven Layer Salad (from Lisa!)
Green Bean Casserole (from Aunt Jenny in our family cookbook)
Deviled Eggs
Crescent rolls
Hershey Pie (made by Mom every Easter)
Amy's Strawberry Trifle (from Amy Silva)

So much food!  I'm glad we had Elders Hawes and Thuesen to help us eat it all.  And as a bonus, they shared a sweet Easter message with us.

Sunday morning, Andrew made such a yummy breakfast featuring his awesome wheatberry waffles.

 We got cleaned up and went to Church together as a family.  What a blessing to think of the sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and how we can be forgiven of our sins through the atonement of Jesus Christ.  This all culminates in our sweet family being together forever.  We wouldn't have it any other way!
